TitleAccounts
DescriptionThe financial transactions for the day-to-day running of Kingston Hall, later Kingston Lacy. The earlier books and notes were compiled by Mrs Margaret Bankes (wife of John Bankes, d.1730), before her son, John took over in 1719. When Henry Bankes (1698-1776) took over Kingston Hall, his wife, Margaret Wynne, took over the responsiblity for these accounts. In the volumes of the mid 18th Century there is evidence of her life in London with her chidlren. By the 19th Century these detailed, formal books had been replaced with less thorough notebooks.
