Description1. Mary Hine, spinster of Frome Vauchurch, daughter of William Hine, blacksmith of Merriott in Powerstock, deceased. 2. Abel Best, yeoman of Woollcombe in Toller Porcorum. 3. William Porter the younger, yeoman of Frome Vauchurch alias Downfrome, and Samuel Best, yeoman of Compton Valence. On the marriage of Abel Best and Mary Hine. Property known as Merriotts, Southmead, Kitcombe, Quarr Close, Long Close and Strapp, formerly occupied by Nicholas Hine, deceased. Also a cottage occupied by John Hine, deceased, brother of Nicholas Hine. Also Shortlands, Western Hill alias Pearse Holte, both in Nettlecombe, Powerstock, now occupied by Mary Hine. On the reverse - memorandum that in 1792, Merryotts, Hempland, Kitcombe, Quarr Close, Shapp, and the cottage were sold by John Best, son of Joseph Best, deceased, to John Browne of Nettlecombe. South Mead was sold by John Best at the same time to Henry Walbridge of Nettlecombe.
