AdminHistoryCharles Coombes (1886-1961) was a farmer and cattle dealer from West Milton, where his sons Geoffrey (1921-2002), Ralph (1923-1994) and John (b.1929) were born. He and his wife Annie (nee Wallbridge, 1884-1970) purchased Noake's Farm (otherwise called Home Farm and later Chilfrome Farm) in 1936 from the estate of F C Honeyben. After further purchases of land Chilfrome Farm comprised some 360 acres. The family all spent the remainder of their lives at Chilfrome Farm, except John and his wife Eva (nee Becker, 1935-2001) who had moved to Grove Stall Farm in 1956 and Geoffrey who moved to Chilfrome Farm Cottage across the road from the farm on the sale of the farmhouse in 1994.
