DescriptionRecites:- (1) Lease from Edward de Cerne, knight, and Elena, his wife, to John Whas, Edith, his wife and Cristina, their daughter, of all their lands and tenements in Weseford and Westhall in Falk (Folke) for the longest life for the yearly rent of Sir Edwards rents. Dated at Scirrborne (Sherborne), Monday after the Feast of the Apostles Philip and James, 47 Edward III (2 May 1373). (ii) Grant from the same to William Culward, junior, Cristina, his wife and John, their son, of the same property for the longest life for the same rent. Dated at Up Melcombe (Melcombe Horsey), Sunday after the Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Mary, 5 Edward III (? a mistake for 5 Richard II in which case the date 9 Feb., 1381/2). Grant; remainder of above property for life of Cristina. Rent: 8. 6s 8d sterling. Witnesses: John Fauntleroy, John Lewston, Walter de Lyllyngton, Robert (? D) outon and Richard Byngham. At Up Melcombe; Seal: ?a tree between two palm trees. Endorsed: ''As for Weseford Lane, Wesford Hills and Radenhurst (? hills) Radnels Hill being the several.....of the waste within mentioned''. ''Per Communia VIII L. VIs. VIIId.'' In a dfferent hand: ''A leas for terme of lyfe from Sir Edward Cerne to Whas and others of Westhall and Wesard ys the Comon.''
